Ingredients:
1. Premade puff pastry sheets (thawed, if frozen)
2. 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
3. 1 cup diced onions
4. 1 tablespoon olive oil
5. 2 medium-sized potatoes, peeled, boiled, and mashed
6. 1 teaspoon dried thyme
7. 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
8. Salt and pepper to taste
9. 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the puff pastry package.
2. In a pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onions and sauté until they become translucent.
3. Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Place one sheet on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
4. In a bowl, combine the shredded cheddar cheese, sautéed onions, mashed potatoes, dried thyme, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
5. Spread the potato and cheese mixture evenly over the puff pastry sheet on the baking tray, leaving a small border around the edges.
6. Place the second puff pastry sheet on top, pressing the edges to seal the filling.
7. Brush the top of the puff pastry with the beaten egg to create a golden finish.
8. Using a sharp knife, make small slits on the top to allow steam to escape while baking.
9. Bake in the preheated oven for the time specified on the puff pastry package or until the pastry is golden brown and cooked through.
10. Once baked, allow the cheese, onion, and potato bake to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy your delicious and hearty puff pastry bake!
