Hot Honey Fried Shrimp
2023 has been a year of hot honey and i’m here for it it’s hands down the best sauce or dip or whatever you wanna call it created it’s like sweet chilli on multi vitamins an absolute treat, anyways they went craaazy with shrimps so here’s the recipe lovlies xoxo
Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs, beaten
- Vegetable oil for frying
For the Hot Honey Glaze:
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
2. Dredge the shrimp in the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated.
3. Dip the coated shrimp into the beaten eggs, then coat them with Panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
4. In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 180°C.
5. Fry the Panko-coated shrimp in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
6. In a small saucepan, combine honey, hot sauce, unsalted butter, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring until the butter is melted and the ingredients are well combined.
7. Toss the fried shrimp in the hot honey glaze until they are coated evenly.
8. Serve the Hot Honey Panko Fried Shrimp immediately, garnished with extra red pepper flakes if desired.
